Dando in Sudan
Dando drilling have been involved in water well drilling supply to arid East Africa since the first tubewells were supplied for Abyssinia (modern day Ethiopia) in 1868.
While the technology has moved on, the philosophy of Dando equipment remains steadfast: Uncompromising design for the most suitable and effective machines for their environment. The almost legendary toughness of the Dando range of top-drive hydraulic rigs sees service lives up to 30 years, and machines currently active in nearly 50 countries on five continents.
In Sudan, drilling contractor, Al Ghadier Ground Water resources have in the last 2 years purchased 9 rigs and have completed and ongoing contracts for almost 600 water wells across the country. One of the most important areas for waterwell construction in Sudan is the drought and conflict stricken region of Darfur, where Dando rigs operated by both Al Ghadier and major UN and other aid agencies have been providing wells to both temporary and permanent communities that would otherwise be without vital clean, safe water.
Al Ghadier operated Dando rigs are also being used on numerous non-aid contracts sinking wells for the increasingly important resource of sustainable aquifer water. Dando not only provide the drilling plant to these water well drilling projects but also the tooling, spares and consumable supplies to complete the “ready to drill” equipment package.
Dando consider one of the most important aspects of supplying these machines to be the support that we provide as part of any large rig package. This includes in-situ commissioning of the delivered rig and, if required a comprehensive training programme to ensure full productivity of the machines as quickly as possible.
