Surface set diamond bits are set with a single layer of natural drill diamond on the working surfaces of the bit crown in a pre-determined pattern.

Dando offer surface set diamond bits in eight standard grades of natural drill diamond set on the cutting surfaces of the bit face. These eight grades are divided further into whole stone grades, processed grades and carbonado grade. Taking into account the hardness of the rock, Dando engineers can advise on appropriate diamond size (spc), carat weight, crown profile and waterway configuration to achieve maximum performance.
