New depth record for the smallest of the rotary waterwell rigs
Two Watertec 2 drill rigs procured by a major UN agency are currently being commissioned in Sri Lanka.
The Water well drilling package includes two Watertec 2 rigs mounted to Ashok Leyland Comet 4×4 trucks and ELGI air compressors for DTH hammer drilling operations.
During a training and commissioning program that includes the drilling of 14 wells (13 with DTH hammers and a 14th with a mud-rotary system) a 5 1/2″ borehole was successfully sunk to 96m using hammer techniques. A depth unprecedented for machines of this pull-back capacity.
