700m water well successfully drilled in Iraq
A Dando Watertec 30 owned by the Underground Water Directorate, Ministry of Water, Sulaymaniyah has drilled a water well to 700m.
As part of a field of 5 wells in the northern part of Iraq, well No. 3J, Sutga was drilled into the local limestone aquifer.
The Watertec 30 was supplied as part of the food for oil programme in 2001 and manned by a crew trained at the Dando drilling academy which was running at this time.
The well was drilled using additional air from a truck-mounted 900cfm/350psi compressor and the drilling proceeded in stages, starting at 14″ diameter and finishing at 8″ diameter. The developed yield of the the well is circa 50 gpm. This is the deepest well drilled by the Underground Water Directorate.
