The iconic Dando “shell and auger” rigs use an incredibly straightforward technique to drill in soft to medium conditions. A manual clutch-operated free fall winch is used to drill, run casing and bail.

The Dando 2000 and it’s larger sibling the 3000 can be seen on countless sites across Britain conducting for U4 sampling and SPT.This simple yet very effective approach is not only used for site investigation work. Dando shell and auger equipment has been successfully used for water well drilling in certain conditions.
