SPT Calibration Facility

spt calibration

SPT hammer calibrations are now available at Dando Drilling’s factory premises in West Sussex, UK.

Standard Penetration Test (SPT) is the most frequently used method for measuring the relative density of granular deposits. Tests are carried out by dropping a 63.5kg weight onto a specially designed sample tube. The number of blows required to advance the sample tube every 150mm is then recorded and the data used to calculate a standard penetration resistance or “N-value”.

As the test results are often used to make high-stakes decisions such as foundation and piling placement for construction or civil engineering projects, it is imperative that the SPT testing equipment is properly calibrated to ensure accurate results are produced.

Dando’s test facilities are fully compliant to BS EN ISO 22476-3. The calibration equipment provides an accurate measurement of the energy imparted to the rods compared to the theoretical energy of the hammer and Dando provide customers with a signed certificate of calibration.

Dando can now offer calibration certificates on all new hammers and percussive rigs leaving their factory, as well as offering the calibration service to customers with existing SPT equipment.
